Editorial take
Who should book The Dominick Hotel?
If this is your first New York trip, shortlist The Dominick Hotel for a practical reason: Space, river views, luxury downtown, longer stays. The name, star rating and lobby photos matter, but the real test is whether the location helps your days feel easier.
It is less compelling if you want a small boutique hotel or historic soho character. Before booking from the UK, compare the final price after taxes and property fees, check the exact room setup and make sure your airport arrival route is not needlessly awkward.

Hotel facts
What to know before booking.
First-timer context
Why The Dominick Hotel might feel special.
What it is known for
- The hotel traded as Trump SoHo until the Trump Organization exited its deal with owner CIM Group; the lettering was removed from the facade overnight and it reopened as The Dominick on 28 December 2017.
- With 391 rooms across 46 floors there are only about twelve rooms per floor, which is why corridors are quiet for a hotel of this size.
- Rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, and the upper floors look west over the Hudson.
New York moments
- The building is one of the taller towers in this part of downtown, on the Hudson Square edge of SoHo rather than among the cast-iron streets.
On screen
- The building's fame comes from its change of ownership rather than from any screen appearance.
Review questions
What travellers keep asking.
Is this the old Trump SoHo?
Yes. The same building at 246 Spring Street reopened as The Dominick on 28 December 2017 after the Trump Organization stepped away from the property.
Is it changing name again?
It was bought in October 2025 and is expected to reopen under the Delano brand following a renovation. Confirm the current operator when booking, particularly for dates well ahead.
