About NewYorkHotels.co.uk

NewYorkHotels.co.uk is the UK's independent guide to choosing a hotel in New York City. We exist to solve a real problem: most online hotel guides are written for American audiences who don't need to know about ESTA, the £-to-$ swing, three-pin adapters, why your hotel won't have a kettle, or which airport to fly into when you're starting from London.

Every page on this site is written from a UK perspective for UK travellers. We've prioritised the questions Brits actually ask: where the kids will be happiest, which neighborhoods feel comfortable, which hotels still serve a proper sit-down breakfast, and which are quietly more affordable when you book at the right time.

Who's behind it

The site is run by a small team of UK-based travel writers and editors. Between us we've made dozens of trips to NYC over the last fifteen years — for work, for pleasure, with kids, with friends, on stag dos, on honeymoons. The recommendations on this site are based on direct experience plus extensive research using official tourism data, hotel review databases, and feedback from UK readers.

How we make money

We're an affiliate of Hotels.com via the CJ Affiliate network. When you click a "Check Prices on Hotels.com" link from our site and complete a booking on Hotels.com within the standard cookie window, we earn a small commission from Hotels.com. The commission comes from Hotels.com — not from you. The price you pay is identical to going direct to the site.

This is how we keep the site free and (importantly) independent. We don't accept payment for hotel placements. We don't take "sponsored review" deals. We don't favour hotels that pay higher commission rates. The recommendations are honest because they need to be — readers who feel misled don't come back, don't recommend us, and the affiliate model breaks. Full affiliate disclosure here.

Our editorial principles

  • UK-first. Every page assumes you're British, flying from a UK airport, paying in pounds, and unfamiliar with American norms. We address that directly.
  • Honest about trade-offs. Every neighborhood and hotel has downsides; we say so. A hotel that's perfect for a hen do might be wrong for a family. We try to help you match the right hotel to your trip rather than push the most expensive option.
  • Plain English. No travel-magazine purple prose, no listicle "10 mind-blowing reasons NYC will change your life." Just useful, specific information.
  • Regular updates. NYC's hotel scene changes — new openings, refurbishments, neighborhoods gentrifying. We refresh recommendations multiple times a year.
